Its that crazy time of the year again!

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support over the last 12 months.
2015 has been a very busy year both on a personal and business level and I have  a strange feeling that 2016 is working up to be the same.

Would you like to know where I will be in 2016?
Then you can keep up to date both here, Facebook and on the website.

I  have always had an interest in photography, in particular close ups of flowers.
Recently I did a one day workshop with a photographer friend of ours....Garry Brown of
G3 Photographics...you can also find him over on
FB.....
I had a wonderful time at the Reptile Park taking photos of snakes, chameleons, crocodiles and Tazzie Devils.....and so a new hobby waits to be discovered.....I have to find extra time first though.

"The Chatsworth" Quilt is coming along with more borders added.....snowball border, blue border and the next flying geese border are all now in place just waiting for...

the next applique border ....I think I have an idea!
Have you started collecting your fabrics yet?

Flowers, Fresh Air and just a little bit of sewing

Home again from our little one week break away.
We wondered down to the south coast of NSW to a little township called Currarong.
What a delightful little sea side village. It has been almost 30 years since I have been there and apart from some building renovations happening on some of the old style fishing cabins not a lot has changed.
We drove down through the Southern Highlands and stopped as Mossvale for lunch and I just love taking pictures of flowers and couldn't resist the Tulips....they have almost faded but were still quilt colourful....going to try my hand at growing my own next year.

Almost every colour you could wish for.

Onto Currarong and the last weekend of the school holidays which was also the long weekend holiday was in full swing...people everywhere!
Fortunately once Monday afternoon came around everyone was off home except us....the little village was deserted almost except for a few locals.
So ensured some lovely long beach walks and bush walks around the Beecroft Headland.
The coast here in the Jervis Bay area is rugged and beautiful, whilst it's a wonderful place for the kids to swim amongst the rocks and creek.
On one of our walks we happened upon this tunnel that if you walk in here,

you will come out through there....

and this is the magnificent view on the other side.

Very windy on this day so didn't get too close to the edge.

I did find time to do a little sewing...working on another project pattern for next year....

and  take a drive to Nowra to Jukejema Quilting Barn, said hi to Kim (the owner), bought some lovely Anni Downs fabric to make some early Christmas presents...(hoping to find time)! and also caught up with Vicki from Amberwood Designs who was teaching a class there.

Now it's back to reality and the computer.

Lots going on....

There is no doubting the power of Spring.
This fabulous time of the year just makes you want to get things done.

"The Chatsworth Quilt" has benefited from the change in weather....and also being home more often has helped!

I have been cracking on and the first round of applique borders are now in place along with the little red border....and as you can see I am now onto the border with the Snow Ball blocks.

Lots of cutting here but with nothing on the telly to distract me...its all systems go!

As I said in my previous post I will be away next week.....so not wanting to take the machine with me....I am madly cutting up all of those nasty little bits that I just can't bare to throw away!....and making four patches ready for  hand applique whilst I am relaxing.

So this is what I have so far.....think I better make some more.

Hmm I know there was an idea there somewhere!

Enjoy this beautiful time of year.

Spring has Sprung!

Last week I took a little overnight trip to Bathurst to catch up with my eldest child....(miss her so much)...and just had to take pictures of the beautiful spring flowers happening in this pretty town....

Blossoms everywhere....

Of course I dropped in and said Hello to Annie at Hatched and Patched and did a little shopping!

I can't wait to make the bag....but thinking I may change the applique....I know she won't mind!

I decided to come home via the Wiagdon Valley.....Oh so beautiful, over the Turon River where Sofala is situated.....

continuing on along through  Kandos, Rylstone and the beautiful Goulburn River National Park and the Bylong Valley.....

the country at the moment is so green and lush....could have just stayed for a couple of days...but I think that is another weekend with hubby in and around Rylstone....wish I had stopped and taken photos of the old buildings they were just amazing.

New fabric has just arrived.....but will post these later today...or tomorrow!

Chatsworth....an update

Well what a strange day here today....weather wise that is.
Woke uo to sunshine, then rain, followed by cloud, sunshine for a short time and then more rain!

After working yesterday as the guest shop at Wentworth Quilters, I thought I might make time to do a little stitching.
I have almost finished 3 of the 4 sides of the first applique border, featuring needle turn applique with a little embroidery
I am really pleased with how they are looking.
A machine pieced border will follow next.

Leaving you with an image of one of my magnolia flowers that are in bloom. This one always flowers just as the other varieties are finishing...wish you could smell it too.

Carol

Welcome Spring

If you were as lucky as I was today and could spend the day outside you surely won't have been disappointed.
My orchids have been superb this spring, the magnolias are all but finished and the hippies are just beginning to throw flower spikes.

I just had to get outside in this gorgeous sunshine and get to work...

This garden chair is the first of the spring projects....all sanded and one coat of oil...will finish off this project tomorrow I hope.
No stitching tonight....just a tad tired.

Happy, sunny days
Carol

Mid North Coast weekend

What a fantastic weekend away I have just had on the mid north coast.
Great food (too much!), fabulous students and amazing hosts.
The weather was perfect, the views amazing and the early morning quiet worked wonderfully together.
Some of the ladies were making "Lindy Lou"....they were plodding along at their own pace making these pretty blocks from reproduction fabrics....

Most of the other ladies were working on their "Feeling Blue" quilts using both needle turn applique and machine appliqué....
Marj decided to make her quilt a "Feeling Red" version...which I cant wait to see finished...
In fact I cant wait to see them all finished.
I awoke each morning to a pretty setting amongst the trees....

And this perfect view each day....ahh another weekend in paradise.
I hope everyone had as good a weekend as I did.

Carol
