Springwood, Eastwood and beyond!

For two weekends in a row I have been away and just loved every minute of them.
First of all was the Springwood Quilters Show and what a show that was. Wonderful quilts of all colours and designs...something for everyone to admire. And then of course there was that perfect weather for all to enjoy. Did you know that this group only convenes to organize this show?.....I didn't. They don't actually sew together as a group....so its totally a fund raising activity....hats off to this group and all others for their fundraising.

This is a wonderful show also if you love your shopping...they have over 10 stalls there to choose from and its a great market atmosphere that surrounds the whole event. This is my second year at this show at what has become a premier quilt event of the Blue Mountains.

So after a weekend in the mountains catching up with lots of friends I was off to the Eastwood Quilt show at Brush Farm House, Eastwood. I would just love to own the house and worry about the quilts later such is the beauty of this wonderful old home.

Eastwood quilters only have a show every other year and when you see the quality of their work I can see why! Hand applique and hand quilting feature greatly in this show and with such precision. In contrast to Springwood Quilters these Eastwood ladies are a very large group where some members meet nightly and others meet during the day.

Another weekend spent doing what I love....how good is that.?

Above is just a taste of some of the quilts, you can find the rest of them over at my face book page so follow the link.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cherry-Pie-Designs/230688837783?ref=tn_tnmn

There is no rest for me however for the balance of this month with a trip to the Novocastrian Quilters monthly meeting next week, a visit from the Epping quilt group to my home shop the week after and then last weekend in May will be my Retreat weekend in Tocal (Hunter Valley). If you looking for a lovely weekend away then I still  have 3 rooms available at the retreat at the end of May so just give me a call if you are interested.

Working away hard today at writing patterns for these two new projects.
Who said sitting all day at the computer does not take much energy!! I am exhausted.....must be cuppa tea time.
Pink Ice is the new lovely little cushion so easy to make and will be available as kits and patterns.
It's coming soon!

And if you are wondering what is inside the Clamshell sewing book
then here is a little look at another of the inside panels.

I will save the next panel for you until the pattern is complete.
I only have to attach the binding now, print the patterns and pack the kits!

I might go and do that now with my cuppa.

Both of these will be available at the Springwood Quilt show
April 26th-28th.

This is the first peek at the new sewing book I am working on. It is just evolving at the moment, thats the exciting part about stitching....you never quite know what will be next!

I am loving the chintz fabric the most.
Not so sure about those nasty 1/4" hexagons though.
Hope to have this ready for Springwood Quilt show at the end of April!!

Ruby

Yesterday I was waiting for burgers to take to my hard working son and husband, and whilst doing this was watching a man getting ready to get on his motor bike and drive off.
His preparation was taking some time I noticed.....put on the jacket, then place this padded harness across his back, and I was thinking to myself....why the harness? He then turned around and I saw written on the back of the padded section were the words...."Go dog Go"!
At this point I could see a small Jack Russell terrior waiting by his feet.....with the cutest pink striped jumper on to keep warm.
He then bent down and lifted the dog onto the seat of the bike, pulled out the smallest dog harness I have ever seen and placed it on the dog. Picking up the dog by the harness, as if it were a litre of milk, he then placed her onto the petrol tank, put his helmet on, clipped the dog harness to the front of the padded harness he was wearing and finished off by placing the special sized goggles for his obviously much loved girl.
And here they are Ruby and her driver.

Just too cute.

Home alone at Easter!

Home alone at Easter might sound a little sad to some, but I must say I am enjoying every second of it.
I have been out and about in the garden doing some much needed tidying up and of course some stitching and planning.
The roses are doing their last minute thing and its just started to rain just to add a little more freshness to the air.

The nimble fingers have been working hard on these cute little spools.
I think they might go towards making a soft and pretty baby quilt with some applique of course!

I really needed to make some of these little blocks after seeing the lovely quilt that a friend, Lisa, has just completed. Really very pretty and she is going to use it as a table cloth!!

Well "no rest for the wicked" as they say, I am off now to help the kids do some painting on their house.....there is method in my madness though....because the sooner the painting is finished the sooner they come and get the rest of their belongings and I can use that space for.........more sewing things!
