Fabulous weekend away teaching in Stroud....Saturday saw the weather cold, overcast, foggy and rainy...but we had a lovely warm fire crackling in the corner and the pace of both the sewers and scrap bookers was such that they created their own heat!

"Charlotte "was out again and some beautiful fussy cut centre blocks were being made...

Along with some new beginnings with "The Chatsworth"Quilt....

Lunch on both days was just delicious and so were the scones and cherry ripe cheesecake...the latter was to die for!....sorry no pictures on this....we were too busy eating!

Stayed 2 nights in the lovely Stroud B&B....lovely comfy beds....unfortunately only 1 shared bathroom...but we survived.

I am having the rest of the afternoon off and doing some cross stitch.

Making a greater effort

So the title of this post says it all...I AM going to make a greater effort to post more regularly !
Just like  everybody else I know.. we are all time poor...FB and Instagram are so easy to just to snap and post..so it's now Sunday morning and I am feeling a little lazy after a really busy 5 weeks of travelling around to quilt shows and retreats.
Don't get me wrong, I love doing what I do but sometimes we have to just stop and smell the roses...or whatever is in bloom.
Here are just a couple of my favorite images from Springwood Community Quilt Show....Eastwood Quilters Show...Tocal retreat x 2....yes 2 weekends in a row at this great spot in the Hunter Valley...fabulous but busy past 5 weeks.

Goodmorning Tocal...what a wonderful site to wake up to...below, Carol from Maitland Quilters is off to a good start with Chatsworth.

Some lovely fussy cutting was going on here with Maitland Quilters making my Turkish Delight Quilt and some Charlotte blocks.

This coming weekend I can be found in Stroud in the upper Hunter region teaching at a retreat...and inbetween all of this getting ready for Sydney Quilt Show at the new Darling Harbour Convention centre later in June...oh don't forget that Sydney Show is now only open for 4 days...Thursday -Sunday.

Delightful Things....

I am so excited to have my first finish and new pattern for 2017!

"Delightful Things" is my first pattern that includes felted wool applique and I just love using this method....I think I will have to do more!

Made with scraps from my stash for the hexagons nothing has gone to waste!

I made good use of all of those tiny little bits that I just can't bear to throw away.

And there is a surprise on the inside.....

I just couldn't stop!

A big Happy New Year to everyone.
I for one have been looking forward to that calendar turning over...so many things went wrong in 2016 so we are glad to see the last of it!

On a brighter note, although I dont like summer that much,
I do however love December and January because that is my time at home to create, begin and hopefully  finish off those projects for the coming business year.

I managed to get the mini pineapple quilt quilted..

"Autumn Garden" has been basted and ready for quilting...

                                                  

I am still finishing the quilting on the last border of " The Chatsworth Quilt"...I am beginning to wonder if it will ever be finished with!

Oh ...and i thought I would begin a new project!....I have been making some lovely felted wool items (see my last post)...and am hooked!...so here is a little peek at "Delightful Things".....pattern coming soon.

My progress on " Charlotte " is coming along....the centre is complete and I am now beginning work on the next round of borders....but this is another story!

End of another year

2016 is almost done and I am enjoying being at home and catching up on sewing and other things in readiness for 2017....talk about wishing time away!

Apart from working on new patterns of my own I have been making shop samples for patterns I will be stocking early next year ....

Just love these cute items from Hatched and Patched....I thoroughly enjoyed making all of them....however I am not a fan of zippers!....note to self....must practice  more!

Loving this "all in one" carry bag for all of your sewing projects.....I just loved using the hankie linen for this project and of course the lovely "Regent street lawns" from Moda.

My terrible efforts at Christmas decorating this year, is as you can see just that!
Thankfully I was saved by a friend who gave me these lovely retro fruit decorations and the wonderful candle holder that I have filled with red and white pips....not too shabby after all.

So...hoping that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season and will see you on the other side in 2017.
