Back Again

Well it's been sometime since I posted something on this Blog. Mainly because the system seems to hate me or I just can't work it properly!
Never the less I will give it another go.
I spent many hours on Sunday morning changing the look of the page and adding more links, so take your time, have a seat and take a peek and let me know what you think.

New fabrics from Daiwabo of Japan and "Warmth" from Moda have just arrived and you can view these by clicking on the icon in the left hand tool bar

This year has been extremely busy, attending many shows and events as well as Retreats, but I have now come to that end of the working year that allows me more time to stitch. So I will keep you up to date with what I am working on.

Also I have recently opened my home 4 days a month (1st and 3rd Tuesday and Thursday of each month) allowing you to come and see my products "In the Flesh"...so to speak!
...or you can still shop online.

Hope to see you soon.

Tocal Retreat 2011

Where has the time gone? It seems like only a few weeks ago that I was letting everyone know the dates and information for Tocal retreat 2010 and here I am again talking about the retreat for 2011!
We always have a lovely time at Tocal. The location is just so relaxing, the companies great and the accomodation very comfortable.
This year we will be there over the weekend of October 28th – 30th and some ladies can’t wait to get there with bookings being made already.
Clare Cropano will be joining us this year with her magic fingertips. Clare is my massage therapist and works wonders on tired bodies. Bookings are essential if you would like to be pampered by Clare.
Last year some ladies requested a mystery quilt project for this year and I am hoping to have the quilt made and ready by then…LOL…it is still a mystery to me!
For further information on the retreat you can call me on 04 0042 0074 or email me at cherrypiedesigns@hotmail.com

"Beth", the new block of the month

Welcome.
The weather has now turned to that wonderful season, Autumn, and how I just love the changes in the leaves and the air. Its cold and chilly and just a great time to sit and stitch in front of the fire or a sunny corner in the garden.
My latest pattern for you is “Beth”. I just love this little quilt. A good size to finish through the colder months of the year and very achievable for everyone. With applique and machine piecing I hope this project will appeal to those of you out there who would like to try their hand at applique. Finished quilt size is 44″ x 56″.

Beautiful Books

Books are one of my most treasured items in life.
I just love to enjoy them anywhere. Spend a sunny day in the garden with a good book and you feel like you have had a day out. Loose yourself in a good picture book...sometimes I don't even read the text, its all about the images.
Imagine back to when time began and marvel at what was used to record daily and other events upon....rocks, wood, wax, bone, shell, papyrus, bamboo, silk, clay and parchment.
Paper was invented in China around the 1st century AD. The discovery of the process using the bark of the blackberry bush is attributed to Ts'ai Louen, but it may be older.
Now look at us we can carry a book around with us in our back pockets all loaded onto our mobile phones. Somehow though it just isn't the same as the touch, feel and smell of a good book.

Just arrived are some new books from Blackbird designs and I can't decide which one I love the most.

The Little Stitching Bag

A few weeks ago I received the most gorgeous fabric from Moda. Lilac Hill is the name designed by Brannock and Patek. I just loved the little birds on this fabric and couldn't wait to use them so I have made a cute little draw cord bag with matching needle book and pincushion.

The kit is available for $27 plus p/h  and contains, pattern, pre cut fabric, ribbon and DMC thread. The bag is big enough to fit the needle book, pincushion, threads and all your other sewing necessities.
