"On the road again"!

This past 2 weekends has just been non stop!
Weekend before last was the lovely Fairholme Quilters Exhibition..... A little bit of rain did not dampen the event.

Just loved the quilting in this one....

Last weekend was the Caroline Bay Quilters Exhibition..... lots of sunshine for this weekend. A fabulous array of quilts at this event which is only held every second year. So for those of you who missed out you will have to wait now until 2018!

And this weekend I am off to Springwood for the annual community quilt show...
So come along to the show....I will have lots of $10 p/m fabrics as well as a wonderful tray of bargain fabric bundles and patterns....but be quick...they won't last long!

The Chatsworth Quilt and Bubble and Squeak will be on show with patterns available.

For this weekend only there will be a saving of 20% on the next post out for the American Reproduction Fabric club for new members who sign up at the show.

Catherine Butterworth

Last Wednesday Catherine Butterworth, a leading Sydney quilter came along to our group (Caroline Bay Quilters) with her many, many quilts.
The room was full and buzzing with anticipation as Catherine began telling us the story of her stitching and quilting journey.
She just uses the most amazing fabrics to create the beautiful designs.

 

Catherine is a demonstrator for the Marti Michelle templates, and she uses these to make her quilts.
I have used these templates myself and find them to be so precise that I was inspired to drag them out of their box and with some luck will start a project with them very soon...LOL!

Oh and of course we had the best lunch with sweet things as well. All prepared by our army of good cooks.

I have been stuck in my office all day (days really) and just sat back and realized what a beautiful day it is outside my window.....so I thought I would let you see my view through that window.

 

Just heard the delivery truck arrive......so that can only mean one thing!

Lots of new goodies have just arrived.

Saratoga Finishing School...LOL

Thought I would give you a peek at what the ladies at "The Saratoga Finishing School" have been up to.

Noreen (in the pink) has just finished this bright quilt and ......

Talented ladies....

I thought I would share with you some images of a group I sew with on a weekly basis...."Caroline Bay Quilters".

They are such a diverse group of ladies with some of them being winners at the Sydney Darling Harbour Quilt show.

This quilt is a raffle quilt for the "Iris Foundation" here on the Central Coast. Helping children and teenagers at risk of suicide.

And of course "Smokey" who really would like to come to sewing each week.....but I am not so sure he would be of much help to anyone!..........

 

He will just have to stay at home and guard the roses!

A helping hand

We can all do with a helping hand sometimes and that doesnt just mean with making the dinner or washing up (boring)! I am lucky to have a husband that does these things as well as other boring jobs for me when I am really busy with sewing projects that just need to get finished.
Husbands who are not sewers but have skills that we patchworkers need also come to the rescue.


Take Sue's beautiful quilt. Not only does her husband draft the quilting pattern but he removes the glass sliding doors from within their home, takes them outside and and elevates them, places here quilt top over them and then traces the quilting design on for her. WOW! how's that?

Sue has quilted the darker setting triangles with shashiko quilting and the result is just spectacular.

You can see in this image those wonderful even stitches.




Maxine is always busy sewing and bought along her very big elongated hexagon quilt to show everyone.This design was originally made by Lucy Boston of England. Every inch is hand pieced and thats maxine on the left.

My own quilt is still in the "box" unfinished....oh well one day perhaps!
