Silent Auction

The silent auction item was kindly donated, and is a quilt top made up of the same design as the raffle quilt (spiders web) of a similar era.

I believe that the stitching is good with little wear in the overall top.
I havn't seen the top at this point, I am just the messenger (so to speak) passing along this information along to you in good faith from members of the Avalon Quilt Group whom I know.
Hope you can all come along and have a wonderful day.

American Antique Quilt Show

If you are looking for something to do during March then take a drive to Avalon on Sydney's Northern Beaches and take a peek at the "American Antique Quilt Show".

This exhibition hosted by Avalon Quilters will be dislaying the rarely seen collections of Annette Gero and Trish Bloomfield.

This I think might be an exhibition not to be missed.....I will certainly be going to take a peek!

All of the details to find this event are on the flyer above.

Now  you might be wondering about the spiders web blocks shown on the flyer.

Well this is the raffle quilt.!

This quilt, known as the "Frances Wheeler" Quilt was made by Frances Wheeler using 1940's -50's feed sack and dress fabrics.
Frances was aged 96 when she moved to assisted living and thus many of her wonderful quilt tops and finished quilts were sold. This one along with 100 other tops and 75-80 finished quilts were offered for sale.
Trish bought this quilt top, along with others, and has kindly donated this top to the Avalon Quilters, which they then set about quilting and finishing the top to raffle.

Money raised from this event will go to the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

Hope to see you there!
Carol
