Fab Feb shop Hop 2014

For those of you who attended the Shop Hop last year, you will be happy to know that this event is alive and well for 2014......and bigger and better.

This time the event will take place for the whole of the month of February! This means lots of time to shop and if you want, you might like to undertake a road trip weekend away.

As well as myself, there will also be Blueberries, Pieces to Treasure and we would like to welcome aboard Karen Kirk from the Stitching Post in Katoomba and Anni Downs from Hatched and Patched (AKA... The Home Patch) in Bathurst.

We are all so excited about this event and can't wait for February to roll around. There will be lots and lots of prizes with first prize being a Bernette Model 66 sewing machine. Wow how good is that!

To take part in the shop hop and be eligible for the prize pool, you will need to pick up a passport (online or at your first place of business), make a purchase from each store and when your shopping is finished leave your passport at your last shop....its that easy.

Don't worry if you can't get to each business in person....you can shop online, in person, by phone or a combination of all 3. Just remember to have proof of purchase from each of us.

Hop on over to our official website or face book pages to keep updated. Alternately you can register your interest at Cherry Pie Designs.

Passports will be available online by the end of October.

Hope to see you in February

last weekend

Last weekend I was out at the Mad Quilters Gathering for 3 days and what momentum this show is beginning to have.
Ladies from far and wide came along to say Hi, from Laurieton in the north, Mudgee to the west and Goulbourn to the south. How wonderful that quilters from all over can get together for a purely Quilting event.
I was kept busy all weekend and I forgot to take my camera so I know these are poor excuses but I only have 2 quick piks of my stand....sorry everyone.
There was however a great line up of shops to visit The Stitching Post from Katoomba, Patchwork Plus at Miranda and Post Office Patchwork of Glenbrook just to name a few.
The whole event has a wonderfully relaxing and friendly feel to it so if you haven't been before then we hope to see you next year.

The new American reproduction fabric and pattern club is catching on and you can see the quilt for October hanging above (second from the right). "Lindy-Lou" will be the pattern to expect for October.
The idea of the club is to inspire you to use the fabric you have without buying yardage. This quilt will just be bound when quilted, you of course may like to add sashings or a border....its your choice.

Shop Hop 2014

Now some exciting news will be coming your way regarding the Shop Hop for 2014.
Some of you will remember that last year 3 shops here on the central coast enjoyed a 7 day shop hop event. Next year we are happy to say that it will be bigger and better.......more news over the next few days.

Spring Already!

No that can't be right! Spring isn't for another 6 weeks yet.
My two favourite times of the year are Autumn and late winter/early spring. They take me back to when I was in my early teens (many moons ago) growing up in Orange, country NSW.

I would spend lots of time and long walks in Cook Park watching the wonderful changing colours of the leaves and then in August the magnificent Magnolia trees blooming. These are my most favourite of all flowering trees.
Living on the Somersby Plateau of the Central Coast its amazing how different the climate can be (similar to Springwood) and yet be so close to the beach. The magnolia in Gosford and indeed in Sydney are all open to their most beautiful best but  alas I have to wait a little longer before mine bloom on mass.
They are just teasing me on what is to come.............
So while I am waiting for the wonderful display, I have lit my fire ( love the smell of the wood smoke too) and today I have found inspiration for new projects for later in the year/2014. This lovely little quilt is an old crib quilt, I think its just quirky...love it.

I have drawn the block and now just have to find the time to make it. Will I use felted wool for the stems and flowers or not??????? I just can't decide.

Lots of other ideas in the brain so I will have to work feverishly to get them onto paper.

Don't forget that this weekend is the Mad Quilters Gathering at Penrith Panthers Marquee so be sure to come along and enjoy the weekend and say Hi......lots of new fabrics to savour.

Big news coming soon on the Shop Hop 2014 that everyone has been enquiring about so stay tuned.
