End of another year

2016 is almost done and I am enjoying being at home and catching up on sewing and other things in readiness for 2017....talk about wishing time away!

Apart from working on new patterns of my own I have been making shop samples for patterns I will be stocking early next year ....

Just love these cute items from Hatched and Patched....I thoroughly enjoyed making all of them....however I am not a fan of zippers!....note to self....must practice  more!

Loving this "all in one" carry bag for all of your sewing projects.....I just loved using the hankie linen for this project and of course the lovely "Regent street lawns" from Moda.

My terrible efforts at Christmas decorating this year, is as you can see just that!
Thankfully I was saved by a friend who gave me these lovely retro fruit decorations and the wonderful candle holder that I have filled with red and white pips....not too shabby after all.

So...hoping that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season and will see you on the other side in 2017.

Cheers
Carol

Hi everyone....Just a quick note to let all of you know what has been happening here at Cherry Pie Designs over the last 3 weeks.....we decided to take a short break and hop on over the ditch to New Zealand and visit our son who has recently moved there. One week into our holiday on the Gondola in Queenstown I slipped on ice and broke my leg....the remaining 9 days were spent in Invercargill having surgery on this leg...I am now happy to report that we are home and glad to be here. We cannot thank the management and staff at the Scenic Hotel Group Queenstown... the Queenstown Medical Centre and Lakes District Hospital, the staff at the Bella Vista Motel in Invercargill.... and the fantastic nursing staff and doctors in the Invercargill base hospital for looking after us during this frustrating time....Finally our travel insurance company who organized our flights home (with upgrades), car and driver at the airport and their professionalism........Travel Insurance "Don't leave home without it"!!

NEW SHOP INFORMATION......
At this point I will continue to be open on a Tuesday and Thursday BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. You may have to serve yourself though..LOL

Website...
Business will be as usual via the website however service may be a little slower than normal.

Remember if you shop on line and spend over $100 your postage is FREE (within Australia) so why not take advantage of this.

Cheers

Springwood Community Quilt Show

I am home again after 4 lovely days in the Blue Mountains at Springwood.
The Springwood Community Quilt Show never disappoints and this year was no exception.

The weather was just perfect...except for a little rain on Friday afternoon which certainly did drop the temperature a degree or two.

I was excited to see another version of my Turkish Delight pattern hanging in the show. Beautifully made by Jeanette McKechnie and machine quilted by Suzie Anderson of Leura Quilting.

Such an assortment of beautifully hand and machined quilts were on display with certainly something for everyone's taste.

As there is each year, there was a diverse range of shops  for the visitors to enjoy, selling everything from fabrics, notions, finished items, china and antique items....I certainly came home with one or two little extras.

So I hope that you have enjoyed a small glimpse of a great show.....

Oh and of course I have managed to do a little stitching on the Sunday whilst I was there...

and now I can't stop....stayed tuned.

Bubble and Squeak

Hi and Welcome....So happy to share my new pattern...."Bubble and Squeak" with you.
It has such a warm and fuzzy feel to it....I just love how scrap quilts make me feel.
A great quilt for quilters of all levels using your fabric stash only...and of course the more diverse your scraps the better they look.
The border and binding fabric is the beautiful Eliza's Indigo fabric by Betsy Chutchian for Moda (you will need 80cm) and the blue fabric for the tiny squares is Alice's Scrapbag by Barbara Brackman for Moda (30cm)....both of which I still have some left.

The finished quilt measures 44" x 52" but of course you can make it bigger if you wish.
The pattern instructions have lots of colour images for you and comes complete with Mylar templates so there is no need to fuss around cutting your own....to purchase your copy Click Here.

Thanks for stopping by

The Chatsworth Quilt...Finished and Available Now

Finally the last stitch was placed into the appliqué and Hooray its all finished....the top that is!
I have loved making this quilt....making a promise to myself to use fabrics that I was saving for a rainy day and not touching the draw of scraps for any of it.....well that didn't quite happen as I did delve into that draw for some of the snowball blocks.
Lots of berries and tulips in this pretty quilt and I just love that vine fabric....I sometimes think it looks like a zipper!...the blue border is also rather a departure for me as I find it hard to work with strong blues....but they are calling to me with some of the lovely indigo fabrics I have here at the moment.
Its really hard to get a great image with such a large quilt (as I am not a professional) so take a look at the other posts about this quilt both on this BLOG and my other BLOG for lots of other images.
Now its onto the pinning and then thread basting of all 3 layers before I can start the hand quilting.....Oh and did I say that the pattern is now available?...full and comprehensive instructions along with full pattern sheets and stencils (no photocopying for you) and lots of colour images and diagrams inside.....Click Here to get your copy now.

Welcome to 2016.

Hoping that you all enjoyed a break over Christmas and New Year...
I know I am still enjoying the quietness for another week or so.
Lets hope that we all have a safe and happy year.

New projects are coming along well, although not quite as fast as I would have liked!
I am hand quilting one of the new projects...."Bubble and Squeak"....
remember all of those little scrappy circles I was making back in September?...
Well here it is.

Don't pay attention to the funny green fabric on the edges of the quilt....that is the backing wrapped to the front to prevent the fraying of the indigo printed border, so that it wont fray as I quilt.

I am also onto the final appliqué border for "The Chatsworth" Quilt....after this it will be the final machined pieced flying geese border and then.....more hand quilting!

Patterns for the above quilts will be available in February and I will let you know when and how much.

I have also been very busy up loading images of new fabrics that will be arriving throughout the first half of this year (there is more yet to be loaded) and you can view these at....."Coming Soon"...on the website.
Another lovely range from Di Ford can be seen here too...."Giggleswick Mill"

Looking for new fabric that has just arrived, then check out all the new fabrics at

I will be home all of February so have changed the trading hours just for this month.
There will also be classes for "Bubble and Squeak", "The Chatsworth Quilt" and "Hand Quilting".
Times, Dates and Details will be released tomorrow.
